Hobby-Ensemble Dusti

Making transcultural music from north, south, east and west with music lovers – that’s what our amateur ensemble Dusti (Persian for friendship) is all about – join us!

In their ensemble Dusti, the musicians weave together sounds and instruments from different contexts – full of timbres, anecdotes and danceable rhythms. In regular creative rehearsals, each ensemble member contributes in his or her own way – with song suggestions, rhythmic or improvisational talents, conciliatory humour, culinary skills, knowledge of music history and language skills, which enable the ensemble to delve deeply into the interpretative level of the songs. True to the motto ‘Come as you are’, anyone interested can join the ensemble, in which a wide variety of instruments, including sitar, kanun, cello, accordion, harp, flute, percussion and baglama, are played together.

The ensemble is led by Alireza Meghrazi (kamanche), whose arrangements are part of the project. Dusti was founded in 2022 by Samira Memarzadeh. The ensemble works in project phases consisting of rehearsals and subsequent concerts. The ensemble is suitable for all motivated amateur and semi-professional musicians.
